The Devil’s Greatest Trick Part One

The Devil’s Greatest Trick.

I was going to start my series on the seven deadly sins, starting with sloth. I just never got around to it. Don’t worry I will blog about my worst sin, but I had to get this out first.

I made this webpage to vent about and expose the false church. The church whose chief anointed one in our president Donald Trump. The man according to Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Robert Jeffress, and the My Pillow Guy was anointed by God to protect America, Israel, and most important American Christians. The near worship of him is so much that survivors of the Tornados in Alabama asked him to sign their Bibles.

Now famous people sign things that they have something to do with. Anton Yelich might sign a baseball, Matthew Broderick might sign a playbill, Weird Al Yankovic might sign a tour shirt.

All three of my examples signed things that they were associated with. Donald Trump is not Jesus or Moses. He is not even mentioned in the Bible by name.

This gets to the title of this blog. The Greatest Trick the Devil Ever pulled. The famous saying made most famous by Kevin Spacey in “The Usual Suspects” goes like this “the greatest Trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he never existed”. I don’t believe that is his greatest trick. It is an important one in his arsenal. But not his biggest.

His biggest trick is convincing people who consider themselves to be followers of God to sin and do awful things in God’s name. This should be a very hard trick for Satan to do because the Bible is very clear about what a Christian looks like. Matthew 5-7 and Galatians 5 are two great examples of what Christians look like. But time and time again Satan has pulled this trick.

One of the first major times Satan did this is in scripture. Many people say that Jesus died for our sins, while I believe that is true. Ask the question “Why was Jesus killed?” And the answer is because Jewish religious leaders believed that they were protecting themselves and the Jewish Nation by killing Jesus. They also believed that Jesus was a blasphemer and was put to death for that.

That is the sad thing. Their savior was in front of them yet they couldn’t see it due to their own individual and national pride, their love of power, and self righteousness. Satan thought he was having the last laugh by getting these Pharisees to kill the Son Of Man. But Satan while cunning is not that smart and could not see the big picture. Jesus’ death and resurrection helped start a revolution of the heart, soul, and body that is still going on today.

Can you imagine how angry this made the Devil? His greatest triumph turned into his greatest defeat. He must have been furious. So he threw the entire Roman Empire at the early Christians martyring thousands. Yet that didn’t kill this new way of love, wisdom, and community of transformed souls. So Satan learned that he couldn’t destroy the church from without. So in my opinion, he decided to destroy it from within. Since Constantine saw the cross in the sky and Christianity became the state religion the false church ebbed and flowed.

It rose up during the crusades, the inquisition, the Salem Witch Trials, racial based chattel slavery by “Christians” who said that it was ok to enslave “a people that God made inferior” when Paul said in Christ there is no Jew, no Greek. We are all the same in Christ. That is what is so awesome about this new Kingdom. The old rules of racial superiority, colonialism, violence, pride, and greed became obsolete with Jesus Christ and the transformation that He can gives us if we accept Him.

Satan doesn’t want us to love each other. He wants us to hate each other. He wants us greedy. He wants us prideful. He wants massive income inequality because he knows that he gets the sinners who exploit the poor and he can get the poor to rise up in violence against their oppressors and Satan gets them as well. Look at how the Bolschevicks overthrew the brutal and greedy Russian orthodox Christian Tsars only to become as brutal as they were. The Red Terror in France was the same way. Violence begets violence. Hate begets hate. It never ends and that is just the way Satan likes it.

Again this false church had periods of prominence. The medieval Roman Catholic Church, the brutal colonizing “Christians” who colonized the New World, Africa, India and other places all in the name of Christianity all the while explotating and killing the natives. This False church laid low for most of the 19th and 20th century. It never had the power that the Pre-reformation Roman Catholic Church did until 1980.

I will discuss the rise of the most compromised and powerful “Christian” church since the 16th century in the next Blog. The Devil is still tricking and people are still falling for it.

Lent 2019 a Journey of Spiritual growth

Today is Wednesday March 6th 2019. It is the start of my 11th lent as a born again Evangelical Christian. I know you might be confused. You might be thinking “I thought this was an anti-Trump page”. I thought all the evangelicals love him.” Well they don’t. Yes those calling themselves evangelicals yet those who cling to power, greed, hatred, pride, and racism do. But Evangelical means good news bearer https://2timothytrump.blog/2016/12/23/the-word-evangelical-lets-take-it-back/ I am an old school evangelical.

Jesus commands me to love even my enemies. So I love Donald Trump in the “he’s made in the image of God yet he’s a tragic figure who does not know what he is doing” kind of way. But I hate, HATE almost everything he has done and said in the last 4 years.

But this blog is not about Trump. It is about me and my relationship with God. I became a Roman Catholic when I was 12 and in Boy Scouts. I was not raised Catholic but I became troop chaplin and fell in love with Jesus. I lost love and respect for the church partly when I was kicked out of a parochial High School due to my severe anxiety disorder and I lost it completely when the Boston priest sex scandal broke in 2002.

But back when I was a Catholic I observed lent. Usually giving up candy. Sometimes I went the whole 40 days. Sometimes I only made it a day. And sometimes I bought the candy I would have eaten during that period and then at Eastertime I would gorge.

When God found me again in September 2008 I started observing lent again. I usually gave up either sweets, soda, or Facebook. My first lent 10 years ago I also watched every Biblical movie made. I think I am going to do that again. Maybe even blog about the movies. But in the last couple years whatever I have given up, I usually only lasted a week. And guilt always ensued.

For my non Christian readers who may be asking “What is lent?”. Lent is a period of fasting covering 40 days. Ash Wednesday, Today, to Easter Sunday, Mainly Roman Catholics and mainline denominations observe it. For many conservative “Evangelical” denominations it is to “papist”. I attend a Presbyterian USA church. Christ Presbyterian Church in Madison WI. A church that has been a second family for the last decade.

The number 40 is very significant Biblically. Moses and the Israelites were lost in the desert for 40 years and before Jesus started His ministry, he went into the wilderness and was tested for 40 days. It was when the Devil offered Jesus all the Kingdoms of the world. If only Jesus would bow down. I sometimes wonder how tempting that was. If I had complete power over the world. I would……….. but this is a deal I do believe the antichrist will take.

What am I going to do this lent. I am going to give up sweets, and something else that will be harder that I will discuss in a later blog. I also want to write more. I want to write as many of those 40 days as I can. I also think I will watch those Biblical movies again. I have fond memories of Jeremiah with Patrick Dempsey. Trust me it may not sound good but it is a faithful adaptation that thrills and educates.

What I want of this lent is spiritual growth. I want my relationship with Jesus to grow. I want to grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. But most of all, I want to learn discipline.

The picture is from the Irish Catholic Bishops webpage. It sums up what lent is and the quote from Matthew 24 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold is sad and true

This Christmas Let’s Give to Franklin Graham With One Condition

The Christmas season is the season for giving. Numerous charities that you have donated in the past send letters asking you to donate again. There are many worthy organizations out there. For example I donated to the Fairhaven School. A school in Alexandria Egypt that provides an education to students with development disabilities that my church has ties with.

So I know money is limited. But what I am asking you is to donate to a cause that is very near to my heart. As I write in my blogs, I do consider the religious right and their deal with Trump akin to a pact with the devil. Trump is everything that Jesus Christ is not and supporting him is blaspheming the name of God in the eyes of non believers.

I don’t believe that all the religious right are lost permanently. I believe some have just lost their way and gently need to be brought back to the light. Franklin Graham couldn’t be all lost, he does great work with Samaritans’ Purse. I believe that fear and anger have lead him astray and I believe that we can help bring him back into the path of Righteousness. Imagine if Franklin Graham spoke up against or withdrew his support from Donald Trump. The man who Time and Newsmax named the most influential evangelical leader in world. If he would speak out it would be a miracle that would go a long way.

That is why we have to be cunning as serpents and as innocent as doves. I suggest that we donate money to the Billy Graham Foundation on condition that their leader rebuke or withdrawal their support for Trump. And if he does not do so, we will demand a full return of our donation.

I tried this once before in June of 2017, I wrote two checks. One for $50 and one for $19.26. These numbers mean a lot to me. The first one was for $50 because of Galatians 5. The second one was $19.26 because of verses 19-26.

https://2timothytrump.blog/2017/07/11/franklin-graham-take-this-69-26-and-start-a-third-great-awakening/

The Billy Graham Foundation cashed the check and Graham continued to support Trump so I asked and got my money back. Imagine if they received 100 letters like that. Letters with checks inclosed with different amounts and a letter urging him or others to rebuke or withdrawal support from Trump using scripture. In my wildest dreams it would be like the court scene in Miracle on 34th Street. Bags of letters coming to The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association at 1 Billy Graham Parkway in Charlotte, NC 28201 urging him to do so to do so.

I am a true evangelical Christian. I believe that God works in the world and He works through the Holy Spirit and we as followers of Him must do what we must to help His kingdom.

These are just a few possible amounts

1. You could write a check for $60 and one for $15.19 and write using Proverbs 6 about what God hates and how Trump’s behavior and actions go against everything that God Loves

2. A check for $23 and one for $19 for 2 Timothy 3 1-9 another scripture that talks about false religion

3. A check for $117.19 for Jeremiah 1 17-19 and urge Franklin Graham to gird up his loins and do right by God.

There are many scriptures that speak against wickedness and for justice so we can be creative here.

The best that could happen is that these checks and letters help change the hearts and minds of religious right leaders and their flock, the worst that could happen is you call for a refund and in the month of January their coffers have a huge deficit in them.

Again send your letters and checks to

What Is Sin?

Words like evil and sin sometimes seem antiquated in today’s world. That is why I think the doctrine of sin, the importance of the concept of sin is so important particularly when it comes to Christians.

Christians like most humans like to jump to extremes. One side is judgmental, pointing out sins, and accusing people. The other side believes like this secular world that there is no such thing as sin. That we should just be good to our fellow neighbor but sin is a word that should never be mentioned.

What are sins. To some it is a list of wrongs of affronts to God. Things you don’t want to do because you are afraid of being punished by God.

To me sins are quite plainly anything you do that puts yourself above your fellow neighbor and God. All sins spring forth from selfishness. And humanity since it’s beginning has been a very selfish race. Always putting themselves number one.

Look at the first sin In the Bible. Eve and Adam disobeying God and eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The serpent that Adam and Eve could be like God. It wasn’t that Adam and Eve thought for themselves that was the original sin. No it was that they thought for THEMSELVES. They put their own wants and needs above God. We have been living and dying by our sins ever since.

I also find it interesting that the third sin after eating the apple and Eve lying about it was Adam not taking responsibility but blaming Eve for his own lack of impulse control. Men have been blaming women for their actions ever since.

Sin is part of our DNA. we may try to do good but we always are lead astray by our petty prides and hatreds. Even when fighting sin we often decide to fight sin with sin and fire with fire. The systematic exploitation of the working poor is sin but out of the fight against that oppression came Marxism that lead to death and destruction. That is one of the reasons why I am a Christian. I am sick of this sinful world and I know the only way to fight sin is through the Holy Spirit, and that is a gift that Jesus gives believers. When you have love, kindness, peace, joy, faithfulness, gentleness, patience, and self control you are able to combat your sins. You will not win every battle but you are strengthened for this fight.

That is what my next series of blogs is going to be about. Now the 7 deadly sins can not be found in the Bible. But it is a great way to some up sin.

I will write about how the 7 plague me, have Donald J Trump is a human representative of them all, and how the religious right actually endorses or condones sins more than any non believer could ever dream of.

And I am not perfect as you will see in these next seven blogs but it is better to be a sinner saved by Grace who falls a lot but always humbly takes His Lord’s hands to help him up than someone who willfully sins, doesn’t seek repentance, and casts judgement on others.
